BRIEF OVERVIEW
On March 27, 2025, Hernando County Transit Department requested approval to piggyback Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA) Contract No. P-20-030 With Gillig, LLC to purchase buses. Contract expiration of July 1, 2029, with no renewal period.
Hernando County Procurement is requesting approval to use the Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA) State of Florida Heavy Duty Transit Bus Contract No. P-23-030 to maximize the procurement process for the purchase of Gillig Buses.
Hernando County Procurement Department has assigned File No. 25-P0234A to this Contract for tracking purposes.
On October 22, 2024, Doc. ID No. 14632, Hernando County Board of County Commissioners approve the Fleet Department's request of various Vehicles and Equipment Through the Fleet Replacement Program. The purchase of the Gillig Buses were included in this approval.
The Chief Procurement Officer has reviewed this requirement for conformance to Procurement Ordinance and Purchasing Policies and Procedures.
On April 22, 2025, approval of Agenda Item No. 15668 to utilize the Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA) Contract and Agreements is being requested. This item is requested pending approval of Agenda Item No. 15668.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
Funding for the purchase of two Gillig Buses in FY25 with an estimated amount of $628,997 per bus, total of $1,257,994.00 for FY25, on the Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA) contract number P-20-030 is available in:
Fund: 0011 - General Fund, Department: 34003 - Mass Transit-FTA Sec 5307, Account: 5306405 - EQUIP-VEHICLE, TRLER>$5000.
