BRIEF OVERVIEW
The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) is applying for the FY2026 Local Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program in the amount of $39,081.
HCSO will use these funds to purchase items for the agency’s Rapid Response Team, whose primary responsibility is to respond quickly to critical incidents, protect community members, reduce harm, and help restore safety during emergencies.
The attached Certifications and Assurances is required to be signed by the Chairman as
the Chief Executive of the Applicant Government.

Once awarded, the grant funds will be budgeted through the Sheriff’s Office with no impact to the Board.

It is recommended that the Board approve applying for the grant and authorize the Chairman’s signature on the attached Certification and Assurances form.
