Reimbursement Request From Marion County for Cost Share of Medical Examiner Facility Construction and Associated Budget Amendment
body
BRIEF OVERVIEW
On February 12, 2025, the Medical Examiner’s Advisory Committee for Districts 5 and 24 met and had a very lengthy discussion on how the districts will move forward after the request made on February 4, 2025, by Lake and Seminole Counties to terminate their agreement with District 5 and join together as District 24.
Due to the decision of the Medical Examiner’s Advisory Committee to place the construction of a new Medical Examiner facility on hold, Marion County is requesting to recover $110,346.53 of incurred costs associated with the planning and design of a new Medical Examiner building. In addition to the $110,346.53, the current contract with a construction manager allows for up to $69,010 in fees, if the project were to be cancelled. Marion County has confirmed with the construction manager there will be no fee charged to this project; therefore, Marion County is requesting to be reimbursed the amount of $12,334.70 from Hernando County for its share of the incurred costs.
