BRIEF OVERVIEW

On December 12, 2023, Hernando County BOCC adopted a resolution establishing a Finding of Necessity as set forth in Florida Statutes 163.355. The next step was the development of a master plan to be adopted by the governing municipalities -Hernando County and City of Brooksville.  The South Brooksville Steering Committee was task with developing the scope of services for the required master plan, as well as providing guidance and assistance to the consultant developing the plan. The consultant, Inspire Placemaking Collective provided the Community Redevelopment Plan, and it was presented to the Steering Committee on February 5, 2026, and was approved.

 

The Community Redevelopment Plan is recommended by the Planning and Zoning Commission as being consistent with the County Comprehensive Plan.

 

The Community Redevelopment Plan is being presented to Hernando Board of County Commissioners for their approval.

 

FINANCIAL IMPACT

If approved by Hernando County BOCC, a Community Redevelopment Trust Fund will be set up.

The Board has authorized to act on this matter pursuant to Chapter 125, F.S.

RECOMMENDATION

It is recommended that the Board approve and authorized the Chairman’s signature on the attached Resolution Regarding the Joint Community Redevelopment Plan for the South Brooksville Redevelopment Area.
