body

BRIEF OVERVIEW

Hernando County Board of County Commissioners, in accordance with Florida Statute Section 394.462, is required to collaborate with its local managing entity to develop and implement a Behavioral Health Transportation Plan.  In accordance with the Department of Children and Families guidelines and Florida Statues every county’s current transportation plan must be reviewed and revised every three (3) years and submitted to the Managing Entity.

In accordance with the changes promulgated by Senate Bill 12 to Florida Statute Chapter 394, Part 1, Florida Mental Health Act, or the (“Baker Act”) and Florida Statute Chapter 397 (commonly known as the Marchman Act), Hernando County organized a centralized system for acute care services as described under Florida Statute 394.462.  The Plan was developed by members of the Hernando County Public Safety Coordinating Council Committee and the Baker Act and Substance Abuse Committee.

The Behavioral Health Transportation Plan described methods of transportation to a facility within the designated receiving system for individuals subject to involuntary examination under Florida Statute Section 394.463 or involuntary admissions under Florida Statutes Sections 397.6772, 397.679, 397.6798, or 397.6957.  The plan also complies with Sections 397.6772, 397.6795, 397.6822, and 397.697.
