BRIEF OVERVIEW
Annually, the Board of County Commissioners and the State of Florida Department of Health enter into a standard contract for the provision of services and operation of the Hernando County Health Department. The services covered in the contract are for environmental health, communicable disease control, and primary care services.
The Florida Department of Health has submitted three (3) copies of the fiscal year 2026-2027 contract and fee schedule, effective October 1, 2026, through September 30, 2027, for the Board’s review and approval.

FINANCIAL IMPACT
Upon approval of the FY 2027 budget, a total of $1,023,000 will be available in contracted services. Funding is also budgeted in contingency, making the total available of an amount not to exceed $1,200,000 as stated in the requested contract. Funds for Health/Contracted Services are to be expensed as listed below.

RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the Board approve and authorize the Chairman’s signature on the attached FY2026-2027 Contract between Hernando County Board of County Commissioners and State of Florida Department of Health for the services and operation of the Hernando County Health Department effective October 1, 2026 through September 30, 2027.
