State Department of Environmental Protection Grant Agreement for Hernando Beach Wastewater Resiliency Project and Associated Budget Resolution
body
BRIEF OVERVIEW
The Hernando Beach area is currently serviced by a conventional sanitary sewer system. This type of system is susceptible to inflow and infiltration during coastal flooding and large storm events. The entire Hernando Beach community is within the coastal flood zones as identified in the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) flood maps, and as a result, during intense flooding events, the groundwater and stormwater can enter the sanitary sewer system through missing clean-out caps, cracks, leaking joints, manhole lids and other imperfections in the system. This project will consist of strategic upgrades and repairs of the sanitary sewer system in Hernando Beach to address the on-going inflow and infiltration issues in the Hernando Beach area.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The attached budget resolution will add grant funding as follows: $500,000.00 to the Grant Revenue Account No. 4121-33510-3893502 (ST GRT-FDEP CSFA 37.039) and $500,000.00 to the Grant Expenditure Account No. 4121-33510-5626323 (Improv-WWTP/Liftstation).
