BRIEF OVERVIEW

This item was previously heard at the March 11, 2025, Board of County Commission meeting (Item# 15200).  Duke Energy Florida, LLC has requested this item to be brought back before the Board for more detailed discussions and to provide a presentation to discuss options for the power distribution from the solar farm.  Also, the discussion of this item shall include Explorer/Somerset Road Developments.

 

As previously heard, this item pertains to Duke Energy Florida, LLC requesting to erect certain improvements on the proposed easement for the purpose of installing a new underground distribution line with above-ground junction boxes to connect with an existing substation located close to the subject property.  As consideration for the easement, Duke Energy will pay the County $100,000.00 for restoration purposes associated with Duke Energy’s construction activities in the easement area and any parts of the subject property that are affected by Duke Energy.

 

FINANCIAL IMPACT

Upon approval of the attached budget resolution, funding in the amount of $100,000 will be available in Fund:  0011 - General Fund, Department:  04441 - PARKS & RECREATION, Account:  3669040 - DONATION-PARKS & REC.

 

Funding will be available for expenses in Fund:  0011 - General Fund, Department:  04441 - PARKS & RECREATION, Account:  5304601 - REPAIR/MAINT-BLDG & GRD.

RECOMMENDATION

It is recommended that the Board approve and authorize the Chairman’s signature on the attached memorandum of understanding with Duke Energy Florida, LLC, along with the proposed easement, and the attached associated budget resolution.
