FY 2022-23 State Department of Health Emergency Medical Services Grant Funds for Improvement and Expansion of Pre-Hospital Emergency Medical Services and Associated Resolution

BRIEF OVERVIEW
Florida State Department of Health Emergency Medical Services grant funds are derived from surcharges levied on fines for various traffic violations. The Department of Health (DOH), Bureau of Emergency Medical Services is authorized by Chapter 401, Part 11, Florida Statutes to distribute these funds to the county local governments and their emergency medical services providers. The goal of the program is to improve and expand pre-hospital emergency medical services.
Hernando County’s FY 2023 grant award is $19,334.00 to be expended in FY 2023. Hernando County Fire and Emergency Services (HCFES) will oversee administration and submittal of the final application requesting three (3) adult and three (3) pediatric laryngoscope kits, three (3) stair chairs, and three (3) handtevy pediatric bags.
Attached for reference is a resolution required as part of the application submittal and a copy of the grant application.
HCFES staff requests Board approval to apply and approve the Chairman’s signature on the application and resolution.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The FY2023 grant amount is $19,334.00. Once the grant award is received a budget resolution will be prepared.

RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the Board approve and authorize the Chairman’s signature on the attached EMS County Grant Application for 2022-23 and associated resolution.
