Request for Grant Writer Position Within Office of Management and Budget Department and Associated Budget Amendment

BRIEF OVERVIEW
The County is significantly increasing projects to maintain its growth throughout the organization. To aid in those efforts, Hernando County employs a grant writer who researches relevant grants to secure essential funding and monitors compliance with the grant terms. The employee in the grant writer position was recently reclassed to Procurement and Grants Manager. The Office of Management and Budget is requesting use of reserves to add a full-time employee in order to hire a replacement grant writer. The position description and budget amendment are included with this request.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
Upon approval of the Board, the cost for FY 23 is $70,476 with annual cost of $103,878.

RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the Board authorize the hiring of a replacement grant writer for the Office of Management and Budget and approve the associated budget amendment.
