Acceptance of FY 2022-23 State Department of Health Emergency Medical Services Grant Funds for Improvement and Expansion of Pre-Hospital Emergency Medical Services and Associated Budget Resolution

BRIEF OVERVIEW
The State Department of Health Emergency Medical Services (EMS) grants funds for the improvement and expansion of Pre-Hospital Emergency Medical Services. These funds are derived from surcharges levied on fines for various traffic violations. The Department of Health (DOH), Bureau of Emergency Medical Services is authorized by Chapter 401, Part II, Florida Statutes, to distribute these funds to local governments and their emergency medical services providers. The goal of the program is to improve and expand pre-hospital emergency medical services.
Hernando County’s FY 2023 grant award of $19,334.00 is to be expended in FY 2023. Hernando County Fire Emergency Services (HCFES) staff have been tasked with administration of this grant and will complete the associated grant reporting. These funds will be utilized to purchase adult and pediatric video laryngoscopes, stair chairs, and Handtevy pediatric bags.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The FY 2022-2023 grant amount is $19,334.00. A budget resolution is attached for Revenue Account 1691-32204-3342001 HCFES-EMS CTY GRT and 1691-32204-3611500 Interest. Also, Expenditure Account 1691-32204-5305201 - Operating Supplies and 1691-32204-5305264 Uncapitalized Equipment will be utilized.

The Board has the authority to take action on this matter pursuant to Chapter 125, F.S.

RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the Board approve the acceptance of the EMS County Grant and approve and authorize the Chairman's signature on the attached associated budget resolution.
This is an annual recurring 100% State-Funded Grant with no local match requirement.
