BRIEF OVERVIEW
Hernando County Fire Rescue and Emergency Services (HCFR) is requesting authorization to purchase a GlideScope Video Laryngoscope System. This is a one-time purchase.

Hernando County Fire Rescue will adopt the GlideScope Video Laryngoscope (GVL) system as the primary airway management device for prehospital EMS operations. After an extensive evaluation process by Fire Rescue, including hands-on testing and comparison, the GVL has been identified as the most suitable solution for our needs.

The GlideScope is the preferred video laryngoscope system for many of Hernando's neighboring EMS agencies, including Pasco County Fire Rescue and Bayflite air medical services. Aligning equipment with these agencies ensures interoperability and consistency in airway management protocols, which is critical during mutual aid or inter-agency responses. This compatibility also supports shared training opportunities, allowing providers across agencies to develop and maintain proficiency with a standardized system.

The Procurement Department posted "Notice of Intended Single-Sole Source Purchase 25-SS0208/JC GlideScope Video Laryngoscope System (Verathon)" on December 10, 2024, with the last date for challenges being January 3, 2025. As of January 3, 2025, the Procurement Department received no challenges.
