BRIEF OVERVIEW

As per Florida Statutes, Chapter 200, Determination of Millage which governs TRIM Compliance, the Board (Taxing Authority) is required to advise the Property Appraiser by August 2, 2022, of the proposed maximum millage rates and the date, time, and place of the First Public Hearing so that they can be noticed on the TRIM notice.

By setting the maximum millage, the Board can lower the millage rates but may not raise them.

No financial impact.

 

LEGAL NOTE

The Board has the authority to take action on this matter pursuant to Florida Statutes §§ 129.03 and 200.065.

RECOMMENDATION

It is recommended that the Board discuss the maximum millage rates and direct staff to notify the Property Appraiser of their decision prior to the August 2, 2022, deadline and to set the date for the first public hearing as Tuesday, September 13, 2022, at 5:01 p.m., in the Board Chambers.
