Budget Resolution Reducing Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services FY 2023-24 Funding for Mosquito Control Operations

BRIEF OVERVIEW
On August 8, 2023, the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services notified the Mosquito Control Department (MCD) of available state aid for FY24 of $61,116.67. At that time the Office of Management and Budget had already finalized the budget for MCD and the amount of state aid could not be reduced. This resolution reduces the state aid total revenue by $15,911.33.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
State aid from the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services for Mosquito Control will be reduced by $15,911.33 from $77,028 to $61,116.67. The Insecticides and Pesticides expenditure account will be reduced by $15,911.33 from $50,038.00 to $34,126.67.

RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the Board approve and authorize the Chairman’s signature on the attached budget resolution to recognize the decrease in funding from the state.
