Burning Services and Pre-Suppression Plowing Agreement With State Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services Florida Forest Service for Cypress Lakes Preserve

BRIEF OVERVIEW
The Florida Forest Service (FFS) Cooperative Outdoor Burning and Resource Assistance (COBRA) Team is no longer active. As a result, the County will need to enter into an agreement for prescribed burn services with the FFS. The FFS will provide personnel and equipment at designated hourly rates to assist a landowner while the land is burned. The County’s Conservation Lands Specialist is burn certified in the state of Florida and will lead the prescribed burns on Cypress Lakes Preserve with the assistance of FFS.
The prescribed burn is comprised of 147 acres, more or less. The area of pre-suppression plowing is 3 acres, more or less.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
Service fees are listed on the attached agreement and have been budgeted for the Environmentally Sensitive Lands Program Fiscal Year 2024-2025 budget.

RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that Board approve and authorize the Chairman’s signature on the attached Florida Forest Service Burning Services and Pre-Suppression Plowing Agreement.
