BRIEF OVERVIEW
Attached for the Board’s review and approval is a copy of the Local Housing Assistance Plan (LHAP) FY 2026-29 for Hernando County’s participation in the State Housing Initiatives Partnership (SHIP) Program.
Every local government participating in SHIP is required to have an approved LHAP at all times and are required to submit a new LHAP once every three years covering the three fiscal years beginning July 1st of the year the plan is submitted. Hernando County is required to submit a new LHAP for FY 2026-29 by May 2, 2026.
LHAP serves as the strategic planning document for the use of SHIP program funds and outlines a variety of housing related activities eligible for grant funding.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
NONE at this time. Approval of the LHAP will allow the County to continue receiving SHIP funds through annual disbursements.

The Board may act on this matter pursuant to Chapter 420, Florida Statutes.

RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the Board approve and adopt the Local Housing Assistance Plan, Resolution and Associated Exhibits for State Fiscal Years 2026-2029. It is further recommended that the Board approve and authorize the Chairman’s signature on the attached Certification to Florida Housing Finance Corporation (Exhibit D) and the adopting of resolution (Exhibit E).
