BRIEF OVERVIEW
Sovereign submerged lands include tidal lands, islands, sandbars, shallow banks, and lands waterward of ordinary or mean high water line. The State of Florida acquired sovereign submerged lands on March 3, 1845, by virtue of statehood and title is vested in the Board of Trustees (Governor and Cabinet) of the Internal Improvement Trust Fund of the State of Florida.
The Division of State Lands, Bureau of Public Land Administration, approves leases, easements, and use agreements for activities on state-owned lands. A sovereign submerged land easement is required for all bridge crossings including the existing structure proposed for replacement.

RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the Board approve and authorize the Chairperson’s signature on the attached Sovereignty Submerged Lands Easement No. 43035 necessary for replacement of the Jenkin’s Creek Pedestrian Foot Bridge.
